Gary Clarence Orton, age 80, Belvidere, IL, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, after a brave battle with cancer.

Gary was born in Platteville, WI the beloved son of Clifford and Bernice (Taylor) Orton. He grew up on the family farm outside Livingston, WI with his sister Sharon where he developed a deep connection to the land and love of animals. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1959 and spent his time farming and driving a milk truck. He spent nearly 40 years as a truck driver where he met his second wife, Linda, whom he married in 1980. Gary was a devoted, kind, and hard-working son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid Packers fan and also enjoyed watching Nascar. He was happiest drinking a cheap beer while petting a dog and falling asleep in his chair while watching old westerns. He doted on his grandchildren and loved hearing all about what they were up to. His care of others was admirable, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his children, Todd Orton, Bryan Lee (Jenni) Orton, Craig Orton, Bryan Mark Orton, and Paula (Elizabeth Glynn) Orton; grandchildren, Tyler, Brady, Charlotte, and Elliot Orton and Eli and Arie Svendsen; sister, Sharon Liittschwager; nephews, Mark and Mike; niece, Marci; Aunt, Norma Orton, and several cousins including Dave Orton whose help and friendship was greatly appreciated. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Bernice; Uncle, Clinton Orton, and wife Linda.

Visitation for Gary will be, Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 10:00-11:45 a.m. at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL 61008. Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Braun Campbell will officiate.
