Gary "Sliver" Brace, 81, of Poplar Grove, IL, died on November 9, 2023, in Rockford, IL. He was born September 24, 1942, in Rockford, IL, son to Harry Brace, Jr. and Grace (Elston) Brace. He graduated high school, joined and served in the United States Marine Corps and married Vickie Johnson on August 8, 1995 in Sturges, South Dakota. Gary was employed at Eagle Foods in the produce department for many years. He loved to travel to Sturges, and was a fan of various motor sports. He enjoyed his time in his youth snowmobiling in northern Wisconsin.

Gary is loved and will be missed by his wife, Vickie Brace; son, Jeff Brace; sister, Sharon Humble and nephews, Joe (Kristen) Hamblock, Jed (Rachel) Hamblock, and Jaimie (Tonya) Peter. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Gary will have a visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12 p.m., Friday , November 24, 2023,  at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, 105 E Grove St, Poplar Grove, IL 61065. Rev. Dan Schenck will officiate. In Gary's honor, memorials to the food bank in Capron. Burial of cremation will be at a later date at Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL.
