Gail D. Bennett, Jr., loving father, grandfather, artist, craftsman, active community leader, passed away, Saturday, October 21, 2017 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born September 15, 1935 in Belvidere, IL, son of Gail D. and Mary Bennett, Sr. Gail married the love of his life, Ann Smith on April 12, 1958 in Belvidere. Gail by trade was an engineer, and served his community as the Flora Township Supervisor since 1989. Gail was a member of the Masonic Lodge Belvidere #60, served on the Community Building Committee, Historical Society, and Hometown Christmas Committee.  He made his spiritual home at First United Methodist Church.

Gail is survived by his  son Kirk, his wife Julie, and their sons Sean and Ian, daughter Brenda Bonnen and her daughters Amanda and Michelle, son Kevin, his wife Shelly, their daughters Jessica, Stacy, Stephanie and son Kyle, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Sharon Dittbenner and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Ann.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 610 Bonus Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Monty Fox officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery.
