Frank W. Nelson, 77, of Belvidere, IL died early Monday morning, May 26, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a lingering illness. Frank was born March 27, 1931 in Belvidere, IL the son of Oscar W. and Hellen (Wylde) Nelson. He married Jeannette "Jeanne" (McCabe) Widell on January 25, 1963 in Belvidere, IL she predeceased him in April of 1994. Frank was an automotive mechanic for 48 years working for Burton Motors and Cassen Transport. He served in the US Army, 3rd Division, during the Korean War.Frank was a member of John Hugo Kaiser Post #1461 V.F.W.; a retired member of Teamsters Local #325 and was a member of Northern Illinois Steam Power Club.Survivors include his children, Linda (Ralph) Mains of LaPorte, TX, Lenny (Vicki) Nelson of Poplar Grove, Larry (RoxAnn) Widell of Beloit, WI; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great- great granddaughter; best friend Gordy.Frank is predeceased by his parents, wife Jeanne, brother Joseph and sister Amelia Horner.

A memorial will be established in his name in care of the family.
