Francis E. "Tommy" Steurer, 85, of Belvidere passed away Sunday November 13, 2005 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born July 24, 1920 in Kingston, IL. to Herman L. and Eva (Burke) Steurer. He married Lucille Behnke on December 5, 1945 in Belvidere. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945, he was a T5 in the First Infantry Division, Big Red 1, 745th Tankers Battalion where he received the European/African Theatre Ribbon with 1 silver star, 4 overseas service bars, 1 service stripe, and the good conduct medal. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Belvidere and a member of the VFW Post #1461.He is survived by his wife of Belvidere, daughter: Lynda Salley of Indianapolis, IN., sons: Dale (Mary) Steurer, Brian (Lisa) Steurer both of Belvidere, grandchildren: Angela Fiems, Cassandra, Rebecca, Malari, and Emilee Steurer, great-grandchildren: Christian and Kieran Fiems. He is predeceased by his parents, son Douglas Steurer, 2 sisters, and 5 brothers.
