Frances C. Goranson, 98, of Belvidere, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 in Rosewood Care Center following a long illness. She was born on October 2, 1910 in Melrose Park, Illinois, the daughter of William and Christine (Christensen) Force. Frances married Wesley A. Goranson in Union, Illinois in 1933. Earlier in life, she taught school in a one room school house. Later, she and her husband were co-owners of the former Lundin's Flower Shop in Belvidere. They retired in 1981. Frances was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church which included teaching Sunday School and participating in the Faith Circle. She was also a member of Eastern Star Adeline Chapter 118 and the Zonta Club. She was a graduate of the Illinois Teacher's College which is now known as Northern Illinois University. Frances is survived by three children, Jan Goranson, Cherry Valley, Illinois; Kris (Jack) Spate, Belvidere; and Noel (Dick) Lewis, Loves Park, Illinois; five grandchildren, Cathy (Scott) Martin, Karin (Glenn) Herrmann, Brian (Clarissa) Lewis, Lisa (Billy) Wheeler, Jaysen Goranson; 8 great-grandchildren and a sister, Evangeline Force. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1985 and two brothers, Ken and Delos Force.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
