Florence E. Wascher, 96, of Rockford and former Belvidere resident died Monday, March 26, 2007 in Rockford Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born December 17, 1910 in Belvidere Township, Illinois, the daughter of Willis A. and Sadie (Carmichael) Bounds. Florence married Carl J. Wascher in Belvidere on November 24, 1943. She held a Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education from Northern Illinois University. She served as a Critic Teacher for N.I.U. for two terms at Rollinsville Country School in Boone County and for one term at Perry School, Belvidere. In 1956, Florence organized and set up the library at the new Washington Elementary and Junior High and served as librarian for 14 years. She retired in 1970 after a 40 year career in teaching and library work. Florence was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Belvidere; a member of N.I.U. Alumni; a life member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association; was an active member of the Ceramics Group at Wesley Willows. She is listed in Walton's Illinois Lives. She is survived by her niece, Norma Jean (Tom) Keating, of West Plains, Mo; and nephew, Dwight W. (Beverly) Bounds, Rock City, Il.; and several grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents, husband and brother Willard Bounds.
