Evelyn L. McBride, 96, of Belvidere, IL, formerly of Ava, IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday night, November 4, 2015 at Maple Crest Care Center. Evelyn was born July 31, 1919 in Ava, IL, daughter of Samuel C. and Lura A. (Jarrett) Carter. She married Clifford A. McBride on May 29, 1937 in Ava, IL. Evelyn was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking pies. She loved playing cards and gardening.

Evelyn is loved and will be missed by her children, Clifford W. (Sharon) McBride, James A. McBride, Jerry (Carla) L. McBride, Lois (Jerry) Gauger; 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby E. (George) Knight; sister-in-law, JoAnn Carter; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clifford, sons, Jack McBride, Robert McBride; 3 brothers, Charles Carter, Lavern Carter, Donald Carter. A very special thank you to Carla for going above and beyond for our mother.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Wilson Funeral Home, 206 South 5th Street, Ava, IL, 62907. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Ava Evergreen Cemetery, Ava, IL. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association in Evelyn's name.
