Belvidere, IllinoisEvelyn L. Douglas, 76, a life long Belvidere area resident died Thursday evening, September 6, 2007 in her home with her loving daughters at her side. Evelyn was born May 29, 1931 in Belvidere, the daughter of Albert and Alice (Hanson) Abernathy. She married Lewis L. Davis and then William L. Douglas. Over the years, Evelyn worked for TND Metals, Green Giant, was a nurse's aid and retired form Century Tool Mfg. She enjoyed reading western novels, the company of her schnauzer and kitty. In her younger years, Evelyn could be found riding the horses on her family's farm. Survivors include her daughters, Lorraine Davis of Belvidere and Tina Douglas of Belvidere; brother, Albert Abernathy, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn is predeceased by her parents, daughter, Laurie Davis; husband William Douglas; sister, Alberta and brother, Paul.

A memorial will be established in care of the family.
