Belvidere, ILEvangeline "Vangie" Christine Force, 102 of Belvidere, IL died Thursday morning, May 19, 2011 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a short illness. Vangie was born September 24, 1908 in Melrose Park, IL the daughter of William and Christine (Christensen) Force. She graduated from Union Grade School, Northern Illinois State Teachers College (N.I.U) and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois. Vangie was a teacher and retired as a librarian for the Ida Public Library. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening; was and avid Cubs fan and loved to read.Vangie will always be remembered for her independence, living in her own home until the last week of her life. She loved her family immensely and was a tremendous care giver to her sister Frannie.She is loved and will be missed by her nieces Kris (Jack) Spate, Noel (Richard) Lewis; nephew Jan Goranson; great nieces and nephews Karin (Glenn) Herrmann, Cathy (Scott) Martin, Brian (Clarissa) Lewis, Lisa (Billy) Wheeler and Jaysen Goranson; eight great-great nieces and nephews. Vangie is predeceased by her parents; brothers Delos and Kenneth; sister Frances Goranson.
A memorial will be established in Vangie's name with the Ida Public Library.
