Rev. Eugene E. Wille, 88, of Belvidere, IL, passed away early Thursday morning, November 25, 2021, in SwedishAmerican Hospital, Belvidere, IL after a sudden illness. Pastor Wille was born February 14, 1933, in the home that his father built in Mt. Prospect, IL, the son of Edwin C. and Margaret (Behrens) Wille. Pastor Wille graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo on May 30, 1959, and ordained on July 5, 1959, in Sulphur, LA where he was installed as pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Wille married Helen B. Agassi on January 30, 1960, and to this union four daughters would be born. Pastor Wille accepted a call to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere, IL in December of 1964 where he served for over 36 years. Following his retirement from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pastor served in Hampshire, IL for over 10 years fully retiring in 2016. Pastor Wille was a person who deeply loved Jesus Christ; therefore, he loved the people who were in the congregations where he served, and people in those communities. He was a true Rotarian and enjoyed the annual task of organizing other Rotarians to serve and sell tickets for the Boone County Fair. He was an enthusiast of baseball and early on enjoyed golf as a social outlet. As a father, he taught his children how to ride their bikes, took them fishing and loved them each deeply. He and Helen made their spiritual home at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Pastor Wille is loved and will be missed by his children, Rebeka (Victor) Wille-Santos of Belvidere, IL, Monika (David) Fiduccia of Rockford, IL, Julia (David) Grigsby of Beavercreek, OH, Angela (Brett) Genz of Ruckersille, VA; grandchildren, Ian (Alisha) Fiduccia, Melissa Fiduccia, Ethan Genz, Madeline Genz, Zachary Genz, Josephine Genz, Elijah Grigsby, Mariah Grigsby; great grandchildren, Elizabet and Malachai; sister, Catherine Robey of Arlington Hts., IL, brother, James (Pam Hayes) Wille of Florida. Pastor Wille is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Helen.
The funeral service for Pastor Wille will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Braun Campbell, Senior Pastor; Rev. Keith Richard, Associate Pastor; Rev. Dr. Allan R. Buss, President of the Northern IL District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; as well as clergy from the Northern IL District celebrating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at the church, please enter through door 4; and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in care of the Eugene and Helen Wille Human Care Fund at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd., Belvidere, IL.
