Eugene "Gene" Bond, 83, of Davis Junction, passed away peacefully at his home on February 27, 2017. Born September 22, 1933 in Poplar Grove, IL, son of Roscoe and Abbie (Peters) Bond. Gene graduated from North Boone High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. Gene and Roberta "Bobbie" Lomas were married on February 4, 1956 in Hunter. Gene spent his working years as a truck driver, retiring from ABF Freight System in 1995. Gene enjoyed fishing, traveling to auctions, and refurbishing his finds. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Gene is survived by his daughters and son, Kathy (Steve) Klotz, Susan (Jamison) Rappeport, and Tim (Sheila) Bond; grandchildren, Matthew (Jenn) Klotz, Mitchell Klotz, Mikala (Rick) Olson, Austin (Lindsey) Rappeport, Samuel Rappeport, Jordan Bond, Niki (Chris) Giallanza, Brock (Kristie) Cunningham and Aletha Cunningham; 7 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Bond; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene is predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Roberta whom he would lovingly remind that she was "2 years, 2 months, and 2 days" older than him. Also predeceased by his parents, and brother, John.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m., until the time of service. Burial in Livingston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to OSF Palliative and Hospice Care or the Rockford Rescue Mission.
