Ethelyn M. Weaver, 78, of Belvidere, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Northwoods Care Center following a long illness. She was born on May 26, 1934 in Blaine, Illinois; the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Erkfitz) Hoelzel. Ethelyn was a graduate of Delevan Wisconsin High School. She was married to Donald E. Weaver in Poplar Grove, Illinois on November 14, 1953. Ethelyn was a cook at the Poplar Grove Elementary School for twenty five years retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church as well as the church's Ladies Aid. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Ethelyn was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and cross stitching. She is survived by her husband, Donald, Belvidere; three daughters, Terri (Bob) Alderman, Poplar Grove, Joni Holmes, Belvidere and Debbi (Steve) Thurston of Rockford; 10 grandchildren, Katie (Chad) Osterberg, Kevin (Angie) Alderman, Brad (Pam) Holmes, Bryan Holmes, Jeff Holmes, Jessi Holmes, Ryan Weaver, Brock Weaver, Kailee Thurston, Kyle Thurston; eight great grandchildren, Emily and Lauren Osterberg, Chandler and Marlee Alderman, Ethan, Skyler and Cole Holmes and Ariana Weaver; two sisters, Darlene Johnson, Vonnie Rae (Wayne) Wares; brother, Elwin Hoelzel; sister-in-law, Lorraine Hoelzel. Ethelyn was preceded in death by parents, son Tom Weaver, infant daughter, Toni Kaye Weaver; two sisters, Vanda Jones and Joyce Heller; and two brothers, Harold and Marvin Hoelzel.
