Ethel D. Miles 95, of Belvidere, died Monday, March 15, 2010 Neighbors Nursing Home , Byron, Illinois following a short illness. She was born September 1, 1914 in Belvidere, the daughter of George F. and Mae A. (Kiphuth) Heineman. She graduated from Riverside – Brookfield High School – Class of 1932. Ethel married Graydon W. Miles in Belvidere on August 9, 1939. She was employed as an Assistant Administrator at Highland Hospital in Belvidere for thirty years. She also worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for a number of years. Ethel was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was active with the Sanctuary Staff for fifty years, the Finance Committee, the Fellowship Board, Ladies Guild and taught Sunday School for 25 years. Ethel and Graydon were former members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Morristown, Tennessee. She was also a life member of the Boone County Historical Society, Highland Hospital Auxilary. A member of Land of Lincoln Theatre Organ Society in Rockford and Piedmont Organ Society of Bristol, Tennessee. Ethel is survived by her three children, Ruth Noren, Talbot, Tennessee; Susan (Thomas) Lyford, Rockford; and Thomas (Jacquelin) Miles, Miami, Florida; five grandchildren, Lisa (Bob) Crocker, Belvidere; Christine (Tim) Coley, Morristown, Tennessee; Michael (Michelle) Dixon, Belvidere; Stephen Miles, Tampa, Florida; David Miles, Miami, Florida; six great-grandchildren; Alex Lorrabee; Wilton Crocker; Adeline Crocker; Tommy Crocker; Graydon Crocker; Chelsey Dixon. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Graydon on November 9, 2009 and son-in-law, Robert Noren. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Neighbors Nursing Home and Unity Hospice for the compassionate care towards Ethel.
