Ermine June Biester Payne passed away May 6, 2016. She was born September 30, 1926, to parents Margaret (Stephenson)and Channing Turner Biester of Belvidere, Illinois. On March 13, 1946 in Belvidere IL, she was married to William Nelson Payne of Danville, Virginia, when he returned from Pacific duty with the US Marine Corps. Her husband predeceased May 6, 1991, and Ermine left to join him, leaving their children Sherry Payne of Smyrna GA, Scott (Dianne) Payne, Sheboygan WI and Polly (Steve) Carter, Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Roy Mertz, Rachel Payne (Ryan) Kibbe, William S. Payne, Abby Winquist (Charlie) Huckleberry and Julie Winquist (Jared) Kauffman; step-grandchild, Jason (Laura) Lorier, great grandchildren, Alexandra Skye and Jesse Mertz, Emma, Jackson and Audrey Huckelberry and Olive Elanora Kauffman,Kelly (Jim) Duncan, Craig (Leah) Carter; step-great-grandchildren, William and Caitlyn Lorier,Kylie and Kendall Duncan, Wyatt and Colton Carter. Ermine's parents and her one brother Kenneth preceded her in death. Ermine and Bill worked for many years in Rockford before moving to Florida. Ermine worked at Wilson Electric, Mott Bros., Rock Valley College before retiring in April 2008. Ermine was a member of Colonial Dames 17th Century and Daughters of American Revolution and held offices in both organizations. She volunteered at Ida Public and Cherry Valley Libraries, and RSVP. Ermine enjoyed playing bridge with several area groups, and was an avid quilter. She was happy to find her ancestor Elder William Brewster of the Mayflower and Mary Barrett Dyer whose statue is in Boston.
The family would like to give a special Thank you to Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion that was given to Ermine.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 9th 2016, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Cremation rites have been accorded.
