Erik A. Foster, 52, of Poplar Grove, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in his home following a courageous battle with Brain Cancer. He was born on January 30, 1962 in Davenport, Iowa; the son of Alan S. and Roseann (Lichtner) Foster. Erik graduated from Riverdale High School, class of 1981 and I.T.T. Technical Institute in Des Moines, Iowa. He married MaryAnn Picchietti in Highwood, Illinois on June 18, 1994. Erik was a skilled automotive mechanic for 30 years. He then worked as a Grain Elevator Operator for Seeger Grain Co. Harvard, Illinois. Erik honorably served his country in the Marine Corp from 1981 to 1987. He enjoyed gardening but most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; son, Lucas and daughter, Emily; 3 brothers, Mark Foster, Alec Foster, Kip (Michelle) Foster; 2 sisters, Laura (Phil) King and Jill Garrison and several nieces and nephews. Erik is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Erik's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the church. Cremation will take place.
