Emory W. LeeEmory W. Lee, 88, a lifelong resident of Belvidere, died surrounded by his family on Friday, June 3, 2005 in Swedish-American Hospital following a short illness. Born February 22, 1917 in Belvidere to Ellsworth G. and Ella L. (Blank) Lee. Emory married Alma A. Hartje on October 25, 1947 in Plato Center, Illinois. He was a farmer in his earlier years and later worked as a factory worker at Parson's Casket Company for 18 years. Emory was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Force. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and watching car races. He attended Belvidere schools. He is survived by his four children, Cheryl (Woody) Walker, Belvidere; Nancy Lee, Belvidere; Larry (Pam) Lee, Garden Prairie; and Sally (Dave) Cline, Capron; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley (Robert) Myers; Ruth Roman; three brothers, Raymond (Shirley) Lee; Russell Lee; Howard Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Emory is preceded in death by, parents, his wife, Alma April 3, 1982; a sister, Charlotte Lee; and four brothers, Kenneth Lee; Robert Lee; Stanley Lee; and Gordon Lee.
