Emily Janik, 91, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 19, 2022, surrounded by family. Emily was born May 1, 1931, the daughter of John and Emelia (Klen) Mikulosik, in Beresford, British Columbia. Emily earned her LPN and worked as a traveling nurse for a number of years and retired from Northwest Hospital. She married Peter Janik on May 1, 1954, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, in Kamloops, British Columbia. Together they went on to have two children.

Emily was extremely hard working, kind and always gave of herself to the ones she loved and everyone she came across in her life. In her spare time, Emily enjoyed sculpting and painting ceramics.

Emily is loved and will be deeply missed by her son, Robert Janik; her daughter, Charlotte (Marwan) Smirat; her grandchildren Jeries (Tiffany), Danielle, Michael; and her great- granddaughter, Bernadette.

Emily is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Janik; her mother, Emelia; her father, John; her brothers, Anthony, Steven, John; and her sister, Irene.

Emily's visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, located at 402 Church St. Belvidere, IL 61008. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, IL, at a later date.
