Elsie Jane Darby, 94, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully Saturday, August, 4 2018 in Northwoods Care Centre. Elsie was born on August 23, 1923, in Belvidere, IL the daughter of Otto and Blanche (Franklin) Klaas. She was a 1941 graduate of Belvidere High School. Elsie married her high school sweetheart, Russell E. Darby on November 4, 1943 on the Naval Base in Corpus Christi, TX.  She spent most of her working career at Dean Foods in the administration office. Elsie and Russ enjoyed their retirement in their beloved lake home in Three Lakes, WI. She was an avid sports fan, especially cheering on her Chicago Cubs. Her whole life was devoted to helping her family, friends and neighbors. Elsie made her spiritual home at First United Methodist Church in Belvidere, IL.

She is loved and will be missed by her children Jack (Kay) Darby of Woodstock, IL, Linda (Jesse) Stratton of Shawano, WI, David (Susan) Darby of St. Charles, IL, Jan (David) Mills of Rockford, IL; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and special niece Kathy (Bill) Scarpaci of Cherry Valley, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband Russell, parents, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut. Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Jim Bell officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. till 11:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery.
