Elmer A. Engelke Jr., 89, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025. Born on November 22, 1935, in rural Belmont, WI, Elmer grew up surrounded by the beauty and simplicity of the countryside. Elmer proudly served in the United States Army, where he demonstrated a strong sense of duty and discipline. Following his military service, he spent over 30 years working at Chrysler in Belvidere. A long-time member of the American Legion, Elmer valued service to others and was an active participant in the camaraderie it provided. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Rock Valley Anglers. His love for the outdoors and fishing brought him peace. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his children, Terry and Bobbi Jo Engelke; grandchildren, Stephanie and Sydnei Engelke, as well as 2 great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his parents and siblings.

Elmer's visitation will be Thursday, February 13 at 10am at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Committal service to follow at Highland Garden of Memories at 11am.
