Elmer G. Emanuel age 75 of Belvidere, entered into heaven after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's with his family by his side in his home on October 22, 2006. Elmer was born in Belvidere, July 6, 1931 the son of Harold and Geraldine (Libke) Emanuel. He married the love of his life Carol A. Dittbenner on December 22, 1954 in Belvidere at St. John's Church. Elmer worked at Parson's Casket Hardware and later at Chicago Northwest Railroad for 23 years as a switchman retiring from there in 1990. Elmer was a member of the United States Navy and was stationed in Newfoundland. He loved spending time with his family and the grandchildren. Elmer also enjoyed listening to any kind of music being played and fishing. Survivors include Elmer's loving wife of 51 years Carol A. Emanuel; children, Kim (Nancy) Emanuel, Dora (Larry) Rockwell, Todd Emanuel (Lisa Darley), Vera Blagg, Robin (Tracy) Emanuel, Myra Emanuel (Kenneth Linder), Sanda (Steve) Wells, Neil (Sunny) Emanuel, Greg (Amy) Emanuel, Earl (Stacey) Emanuel, and Wanda (Anthony) Caldwell; 19 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren with another on the way; 2 brothers Harold (Alice) Emanuel, Gerald Emanuel; 3 sisters, Janet Darmon(Steve Lindquist), Karen (Denny) Schrader, and Kathy Emanuel; as well as many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie Emanuel, and sister Carole Mundy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice or in Elmer's name to the family.
