Ellen Lea Sailer, 95, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully October 20, 2022, in Belvidere. She was born January 31, 1927, in Bluegrass, North Dakota. She married Gerhard Sailer December 19, 1948 and had two children, Diane and Deborah. She was a waitress in Hazen, ND, a desk clerk in a hotel in Bismarck, ND, worked at a creamery in Medina, ND and ran a restaurant in Streeter, ND. She also was a telephone operator in Colton, SD. She did bookwork and graded eggs at VanAssalt's Produce in Colton, SD. She was a sewer at Dakota Industries in Dell Rapids, SD and a janitor at Trivalley School and Colton/Lyons school. She was a hard worker and wore multiple hats during her career. She lived in various places in North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota, Wisconsin and Illinois.

She enjoyed bowling, golfing, church choir and sewing and quilting.

Ellen is loved and will be missed by Deborah (Bruce) Beck; grandchildren, Eric Swier, Audra Beck, Cristin (Ryan) Middlesworth; and great grandchildren, Landon, Joslynn and Bruin Middlesworth.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Reinhold and Hilda Bauer; husband, Gerhard (Gary) Sailer; daughter, Diane Swier; brothers, Lawrence, Elter and Eli Bauer; sisters, Meta and Leoma Bauer; half-sister, Leona Scheid.
