Ellen " Darlene"(Smith) Hughes age 70, of Belvidere passed away August 9, 2006 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Ellen was born in White Memorial Hospital Los Angeles California the daughter of John B. Smith and Myrtle Baxter October 26, 1935 in California. She later married the love of her life Larry Hughes on July 21, 1967 in Las Vegas. Ellen worked as a microfilmer and assembler for 30 years in the Belvidere area. Ellen's hobbies included bowling on the women's league as well as golfing. She loved to travel with her husband and also enjoyed to gamble. Ellen is survived by her husband Larry Hughes; children, Rick (Penny) Lewis, Tina Lewis, and Kevin Hughes; brother Stanley (Marge) Sagert; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Debra Lewis, and granddaughter Christina Weink. A very special thank you to the caring staff on 3rd floor east at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be determined at a later date.
