Ella Marie Bak-Anderson, 68, of Poplar Grove, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 in Swedish-American Medical Center, Belvidere following a lengthy illness. Ella was born October 17, 1944 in Centerville, SD, the daughter of Henry and Anine (Mikkelsen) Bak. Ella was born and raised in Centerville. She was baptized and confirmed at Scandia Lutheran Church. Ella is a graduate of Centerville High School. Following graduation, she worked at The Greenstamp Store in Sioux Falls, SD. In 1966, Ella moved to Belvidere and began working for Automatic Electric in Genoa, IL. She was owner and operator of Mi Place Restaurant as well as worked for several Belvidere area restaurants, including Draw One, The Director's, Dodge Lanes and Dooley's Restaurant in Poplar Grove, IL. Ella met Wally Anderson and was married in Belvidere on June 16, 2006. After retirement, Ella and Wally enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Ella enjoyed crocheting gifts for family and friends. We are blessed to have these treasured momentos.Ella is survived by her husband, Wally Anderson, of Poplar Grove, IL; three sisters, Alice Sylliassen, of Sioux Falls, SD, Darlene (Kenny) Munter, Buxton, ND, and Ruth Ewoldt, Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Robert (Elsie) Bak, Pierre, SD and sister-in-law, Elaine Bak, Wisner, NE; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends as well as special friends, the "Golden Girls", Bev, Mitzi, and Glenna. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Harland Bak.
