Obituary

Eleanor M. Fitch, 92, of Wauwatosa, Wi, died Thursday, September 25, 2008 in Wheaton-Franciscan / St. Joseph Medical Center Hospice following a short illness. She was born December 1, 1915 in Chicago, Il; the daughter of Irving and Magdolane (Hauck) Brown. Eleanor always dreamed of being a school teacher, and she loved school, but after 8th grade, she had to help at home and then at age 15 went to work. Eleanor has lived in Wauwatosa since 2005, moving there from Belvidere where she was a long time resident. She married Raymond S. Fitch in Belvidere on March 27, 1937. She was a Avon representative here in Belvidere for 20 years. When her husband died, she then worked as a circulation-inserter for the Belvidere Republican newspaper. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for 20 years and belonged to various groups such as the Door Keepers Class and Esther Rachel circle. Through the years, Eleanor's faith in God has helped her through some difficult times. She kept quite a prayer list and regularly prayed for many relatives and friends. Her faith in God has been the foundation of her life, and she enjoyed sharing that faith in love, through sending many "Thinking of You" cards to people with health or other challenges. She also really enjoyed giving and receiving hugs. Eleanor was a Election Judge for Boone County for 20 years and was also a member of the Solitaires group. Eleanor enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, crafts and baking goodies to give away. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Llew) Walker, Milwaukee, Wi.; two grandsons, Scott (Tonette) Walker, Wauwatosa, Wi. and David (Maria) Walker, Waukesha, Wi. four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alexander, Isabella and Eva Walker; three sisters-in-law, Celestia Matheson, Vicki Fitch and Dorothy Fitch, all of Belvidere. She was very close to Paul and Sue Grover and their children, Sarah, Martha and Joel; Tom and the late Darlene Greenlee and their children, Beth, Karen and Brian; and Russ Nelson. Eleanor is preceded in death by parents, her husband, three sisters, Marie Pearson, Magdolane Rote and Leona Diamond and special friends, June and Ozzie Nelson and Nancy Nelson.
