Eleanor A. "Ellie" Ellwanger, 78, of Cherry Valley, formerly of Capron, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in her home following a long illness. She was born on April 7, 1931 in Gardner, Illinois, the daughter of William and Julia (Bajt) Swartz. She has lived three years in Cherry Valley moving there from Capron. "Ellie" married Eugene R. Ellwanger in Fontana, Wisconsin on July 28, 1973. She was a head cook for the Admiral Corporation in Harvard, Illinois. "Ellie" was co-owner/operator with her husband of the Double E Machine Shop, Capron, Ill. for 2o years retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Capron Fire Dept. She loved to cook, garden, ride her horses, motorcycle and fishing. To quote her good friend Barb Schwebke, "Ellie could fish with the best of them." "Ellie" graduated from Dwight, Illinois High School. "Ellie" is survived by her husband, Eugene Ellwanger, Cherry Valley; daughter, Debra (Randy) Fletcher, Rockford; son, Scott Ellwanger, Rockford; Daughter, Kellie (Toby) Luxton, Rochelle; six grandchildren, Aaron, Kari, Josh, Megan, Mandie and Nickoles; three great grandchildren, Tristin, Sebastian, and Zoe; three sisters, Elaine (Joseph) Czajkowski, Joliet, IL; Betty Gibson, Gilbert, AZ; Carol (Richard) Syljebeck, Leesburg, FL; a brother, Gerald (Judy) Swartz, Poplar Grove, IL. and good friend, Greg Morelock. Preceded in death by parents, son, William Day; and sister, Cletus (Donald) Bokker and brother, Sonny Swartz.
