Elaine D. (Eickstedt) Mistretta, 86, of Rockford, went to be with God, on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. She was born March 20, 1923 in Marengo, Illinois, the daughter of Alfred and Alma (Cassier) Eickstedt. Elaine married Martino P. Mistretta in Marengo on October 28, 1948. She was raised in the Missouri synod of the Lutheran Church. She was devoted to her family; however she enjoyed sewing, shopping and gardening. She also loved animals and life in general. Elaine graduated from Marengo High School and Rockford Beauty School. She is survived by a son, Martin Mistretta and a daughter, Vicki Mistretta both of Rockford; a sister, Virginia Inman of Belvidere and several nieces and nephews, and her special cat "Callie". Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Earl Eickstedt and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws. The family wishes to thank the staff of both Hospice Care of America and Cor Mariae Center for the care extended to their mother.
