Edwin H. Walberg, 87, a life long Garden Prairie, IL resident died Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2006 in his home after a lingering illness. Ed was born October 2, 1918 at the family home the son of Axel and Signe (Anderson) Walberg. He married Elma J; Swezey on February 1, 1941 in the family home and following her death in 1992, Ed married Helen L. Bloomberg on February 14, 1996. Ed devoted his life to farming. He was an active member of Evangelical Covenant Church and a long time member of the Giddeon's International. Ed also was a longtime member of the Boone County Farm Bureau, a 25 year member of Pure Milk Producers Assoc, Holstein Freisian Assoc. in the early 1940's he served as a 4-H leader. Ed drove a school bus for the Community Unit School District 100 for 28 years and well as driving the bus for his Church.Survivors include his sons, Herbert (Joy Sue) Walberg of Garden Prairie, Robert (Madeline) Walberg, Belvidere; sister, Gertrude Walker of Belvidere; brother, Frank Walberg of North Carolina; grandchildren L. Todd (Diana) Walberg, Quinn (Wayne) Luckey, Julie Walberg, Tom (Pam) Walberg; great-granddaughters, Reilly, Ashlyn, Coe and Emma. Ed is predeceased by his parents, first wife Elma Walberg, second wife, Helen Walberg; sisters, Elizabeth Martin, Viola Carlson, Ethel Lockhart and Ruth Swanlund.
A memorial will be established for the Evangelical Covenant Church in his memory.
