Belvidere, IllinoisEdward C. "Ed" Toman, 80, of Belvidere and formerly of Freeport, IL died Thursday morning, July 6, 2006 in Swedish American Hospital. Ed was born September 15, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI the son of Thomas and Veronica (Bucek) Toman. He married Betty Ann Anderson on October 17, 1970 in Belvidere. He retired from GTE in Genoa in 1986 where he worked as a set-up man. Ed was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Belvidere, Belvidere Moose Lodge, V.F.W. John Hugo Kaiser Post 1461 and American Legion Boone Post 77. Ed served our country in the Pacific Theater during World War II with the US Navy Sea Bee's.Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann; son, Craig (Penny) Toman of Crescent City, CA; stepchildren, Susan (David) Whitfield of Carol Stream, Peggy Sue (Cleo) Cole of Carol Stream, Robert (Vickie) Cantrell of Belvidere; sister, Lucille (John) Koller of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.Predeceased by parents; two brothers, three sisters; step-son John Cantrell.
