Edward L. Strawn, 72, of Rockford died Friday March 5, 2005 in Swedish American Hospital following a brief bout with cancer. He was born January 31, 1933 in Belvidere, IL. to Donald and Helen (Stegmann) Strawn. He graduated from East Rockford High School in 1950 and served for two years in the U.S. Army. On June 29, 1957 he married the love of his life Lorraine Anderson in Belvidere. Edward spent his career as a mechanical engineer for various companies including Sundstrand, Feldman Formers, and Mattison Machine Works before his retirement. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he was an usher. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, woodworking, metal fabrication and fishing with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved spending time with his two granddaughters.He is survived by his daughters; Lavonne Strawn of Rockford, Christine (Peter) Sincox of Machesney Park, 2 granddaughters; Brittainy and Dana Sincox of Machesney Park, brother; Rev. Robert (Ann) Strawn of Broken Bow, NE., 3 nephews; Rev. James (Kristy) Strawn, Rev. Paul (Kristi) Strawn, Matthew (Kassi) Strawn, niece; Ruth Strawn, 14 great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. He was preceeded in death by his loving wife Lorraine on June 26, 2001, parents, and a nephew Mark Strawn.
Memorials may be given to the Redeemer Lutheran Church
