Edward B. "Ned" Glass, age 80, of Belvidere, IL went home to be with his Lord and dear daughter Dana Thursday evening, August 11, 2005 in Swedish-American Hospital after a short illness. Ned was born May 2, 1925 in Belvidere, IL the son of Coralyn (Wickwire) Glass Rairdin and Arthur Glass. Ned married Harriet Morgan in Belvidere on June 14, 1947. Ned joined the US Army at the beginning of his senior year of high school and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He obtained his G.E.D. in 1946. Ned retired from Arnold Engineering in 1990. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon and trustee. He loved his church always dating back to when his grandparents were active in the church. He was also a 50 year member of the Belvidere Masonic Lodge # 60 AF & AM.Survivors include his wife, Harriet of Belvidere; daughter Debi (Ed) Jannisch of Belvidere; grandchildren Meagan (Hector Roman) Fuller of Bellerose, NY, Sarah L. Napp of San Francisco, CA, Adam Napp of Chicago and Shana (Ryan White) Fuller of Belvidere. Step grandchildren, Jessica Jannisch and Scott (Audra Sullivan) Jannisch both of Belvidere; brother, Gale W. Glass of Florida; aunt, Grace Steinborn; uncle, Robert Wickwire; numerous nieces and nephews and three very special little friends, Dani Roman, Damon Timmerman and Alexis Sell.Ned is predeceased by his daughter, Dana L. Napp in 1997, parents, step-father, Maynard Rairdin, grandparents, Helena and Guy Wickwire and Jessie and Edward B. Glass and an infant brother, Arthur Guy; and in-laws Neva and James Morgan.The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Sanz, Dr. Edgcombe, Dr. hanif and all the wonderful nurses at Swedish American hospital for the care given to Ned.
A memorial will be established for First Presbyterian Church and Shriner's Hospitals for Crippled Children in his memory.
