Edward A. Anderson, 91, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully, August 5, 2021, in Rockford. He was born June 8, 1930, son to Arthur and Hazel (Osberg) Anderson in Rockford. He graduated from Capron High School and joined the United States Air Force as a B-29 airplane mechanic. He was in the Air Force for four years and served in Guam during the Korean War. Edward married his sweetheart, Ellen Jeffers, on March 17, 1951, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was employed as a tractor mechanic for International Harvester for nine years and Poulter Implement for 25 years. He then was employed with John Deere in DeKalb. Edward was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere and was an elder and deacon. He served on the Immanuel Lutheran and Rockford Lutheran High School Board of Educators and was a Stephen Minister. He loved to read, play golf, and was a loyal Cubs fan. He attended every baseball and basketball game of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to talk with neighbors and especially loved to surround himself with family.
He will be loved and is dearly missed by his wife, Ellen; daughter, Debra (Gordon) White of Belvidere; sons, Larry (Cindy) Anderson of Belvidere and Michael (Nancy) Anderson of El Dorado Hills, Cali.; grandchildren, Melissa Colombi, Jarrod (Lexi) Anderson, Jason White, Kyle Anderson and Aaron Weber; four great grandchildren, Parker, Jace, Braxton Colombi and Wyatt Anderson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Anderson; and numerous brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 17, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.until the time of the memorial service at the church. Pastor Braun Campbell will officiate. In Edward's honor, memorials can be gifted to the church.
