Belvidere, ILEdna Louise Butler, 92, of Belvidere, IL passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 in Northwoods Care Center after a lingering illness. Edna was born September 8, 1921 in Wayne City, IL the daughter of William and Josie (Withrow) Austin. She married M. Willard Butler on April 13, 1939 in Wayne City. Edna owned several restaurants in Belvidere and Poplar Grove. She loved playing cards and bingo. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliaries.Edna is loved and will be missed by her children, Velma (Jerry) Knox, Dixie (Joe) Kirk, Phyllis Boardman, Raetta Wille and Bill (Sue Shere) Butler all of Belvidere, Donna (Bernie) Grotheer of Bossier City, LA, Carolyn (Roy) Brening, Genoa, IL, Connie (Dennis) Norris of Ocalla, FL, Melvin (Peggy) Butler of Whitesboro, TX, Marvin (Jean) Butler of Rockford, IL. Edna is also survived by 34 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jo (Robert) Bruce of Fairfield, IL and son in-law, Lyle Sherman. Edna is preceded in death by her parents; husband. Willard Butler; daughter, Linda Sherman; granddaughter, Jenny Nguyen; brothers, Bill Jr., Eldon, Hobert, Lee Austin.
