Edith P. Hensley, 97, of Genoa, died Monday, August 31, 2009 in Loyalton of Rockford. Born July 21, 1912 in Boone Co., Illinois, daughter of Royal E. and Etha L. (Witt) White. She lived in the Herbert area for most of her life. She married David Hensley in Boone County on January 26, 1941. She was a member of Davis United Methodist Church – Herbert. Member of Adult Bible Class, past president of the United Methodist Women, and former Superintendent of Sunday School. She is a graduate of Belvidere High School Class of 1930. She went to high school her freshman, sophomore and junior year driving a horse and buggy and never missed a day of school. In her senior year, she started to drive a car and missed some days of school. She is survived by a niece, Leona (Tom) Roach, Kingston, Ill.; two nephews, Alvin (Helen) White, Jr. Kingston, Ill. and John (Ione) Hensley, Hampshire, Ill. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Stella Malkowski and four brothers, Arthur, Charles, Alvin, Sr. and Robert White.
