Obituary

Earl "Bud" Lungstrom, 96, of Cherry Valley, IL, passed away Friday evening, June 24, 2022. Earl was born October 22, 1925, the son of Emil and Lottie (Bump) Lungstrom in Springfield, MN. He married Lois Warnes on October 14, 1948, in Rockford, IL. They went on to have four children together.

Earl was a very special man, hardworking, loving, gentle and kind. He enjoyed playing horse shoes, lawn bowling, shuffleboard and shooting pool. Earl worked as a mechanic and was an active member at St. James Catholic Church. He loved working on the farm and tending to his impressive vegetable garden. He told his grandchildren stories of him breaking wild horses to use on the farm. It is said that Earl never met a person he didn't like and he never had a harsh word to say.

Earl is loved and will be missed greatly by his wife, Lois Lungstrom; his daughter, Deborah (Gary) Klinefelter; his son, Russell (Mary Sue) Lungstrom; his daughter in law, Nancy Lungstrom; his siblings, Evelyn Sanford, Melvin (JoAnn) Lungstrom, Geraldine Detra; his grandchildren, Shane (Michelle) Fitch, Amy (Billy) Gardner, Jeremy (Carrie) Klinefelter, Jennifer (Chad) Bentley, Mindy (Corey) Lucchesi, Mark (Jennifer) Lungstrom, Mitchell Lungstrom, Jessica (Jon Lowery) Lungstrom, Dan Lungstrom; as well as his 17 great grandchildren.

Earl is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Lungstrom; his daughter, Terry Waters; his granddaughter, Maureen Lungstrom; his siblings, Edna Morris, Alvin Lungstrom, Gerald Lungstrom, Merrill Lungstrom; and his foster siblings, Ellsworth Nace, LeRoy (Irene) Boardman.

A private family visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Funeral services and mass to follow at St. James Catholic Church, 402 Church St., Belvidere, IL 61008, at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Brian Geary will officiate. Burial will take place at Highland Garden of Memories, 9800 IL-76, Belvidere, IL 61008, at 2:00 p.m.

The family of Earl Lungstrom would like to especially thank his amazing nurses, Regan and Chelsea at Swedish American Hospital for taking such great care of Earl during his time there.
