"Doug" Galster
October 3, 1940 – July 8, 2022
Douglas W. Galster, 81, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away Friday afternoon, July 8, 2022, in William S. Middle Veterans Hospital, Madison, WI. Doug was born October 3, 1940, in Kenosha, WI the son of Victor I. and Mae M. (Adler) Galster. Doug was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Semper-Fi. He served from 1958 through 1961 Ooh-Rah. Doug made his spiritual home at Blaine United Methodist Church. He was a former bulk oil dealer for Amoco -Standard Oil, and retired from the City of Beloit, Wisconsin. Doug was a very talented man who could fix anything…" Mr. Fix It". He was an avid motorcyclist, and a gifted woodworker.
Doug is loved and will be missed by his many friends and church family of Blaine united Methodist Church; he is also survived by his sister, Gail (Lee) Galster-Shaw; nieces and nephews, Allison (Steven) Johnsen, Aleen Rieskamp, Rahn-Margaret (Jay) Jensen, Guy (Loraine) Galster, Terri (Brian) Lewis, David (Melanie) Shaw. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald Galster.
Doug's memorial gathering will be held at 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Blaine united Methodist Church, 7200 Blaine Road, Poplar Grove, IL 61065, with his memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Hay pastor officiating. Military rites will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doug's name can be given in care of Blaine United Methodist Church in his memory.
