Douglas M. Boomgarden, 86, of Belvidere, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 in P.A. Peterson Health Center. Born June 25, 1924 in Ogle County, son of Wesley Boomgarden. Married Betty Louise Rhode on October 18, 1946 in Belvidere. She went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2006. Douglas was an entrepreneur and owned Boomgarden Realty and Auction Service, he was also a farmer. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church including being a trustee for the new building campaign, member of the Lion's Club, FFA, Farm Bureau, was a founding member of the Monroe Center Park Board. He enjoyed golfing and loved to travel.Survived by his sons Randy (Nancy) of Savanna, IL, Michael (Victoria) of Naperville, IL, daughter Cindy (William) Taylor of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren Alexander Boomgarden, Stephen and Daniel Myers, Traci Taylor Goodchild; great-grandchildren Brock, Jakub, and Owen Myers, JudyLynn and David Goodchild lll; sisters Doris Ferb and Lucille Dunahay, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, wife Betty, infant son Larry, 1 brother and 1 sister.
