Dortha A. 'Dot" Bowers, 88 of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, June 25, 2015 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a sudden illness.  Dot was born July 9, 1926 in Loves Park, IL the daughter of Homer H. and Vivian Grace (Poole) Finch.  Dot married Mr. Roy O. Bowers on June 17, 1945 in San Francisco, CA; they enjoyed seventy years and eight days of marriage.  Dot volunteered and was a board member for Milestone, INC; she enjoyed playing solitaire and ceramics.  Dot was also a talented artist with a passion for portrait artistry.  Dot and Roy enjoyed traveling together and were blessed to have taken many cruises.  Dot made her spiritual home at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church where she was active with the UMW.

Dortha A. Bowers is loved and will be missed by her husband, Roy of Rockford; son, Dan (Yvonne) Bowers of Orlando, FL; granddaughters, Leah (Dan) Bouchard of Rockford, Cindy (Vince) McCumber of Poynette, WI and Jennifer (Mark) Keckler of Rockford; great-grandchildren, Mason, Allicen and Davin Bouchard; Miranda and Raven McCumber; sister, Bernadine Fasula of Rockford.

Dot bequeathed her body to medical science.  A private family service has taken place.  Memorials in Dot's name can be given in care of Milestone, INC, 4060 McFarland Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111.  Arrangements by Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W.
