Kuelz
June 24, 1927 – April 22, 2025
Doris J, Kuelz, of Cherry Valley, IL, passed away on April 22, 2025. She was born to Fred L. Peterson and Vera L. (Brandt) Peterson on June 24, 1927 in Belvidere, IL. After graduating from East High School in 1945, she was a life-long legal secretary with her first job being with Nelson and Nelson and her last job being with attorney, John M. Nelson. In between raising five children, she worked at various law offices and at home. She was secretary-treasurer of Cherry Valley Cemetery Association from 1990 to 2013. She was a volunteer driver for American Cancer Society for 19 years and a volunteer hospice worker for OSF for 6 years. One of her first loves was playing cards and she told everybody they better have a deck of cards "up there." It was not only a deck of cards she loved, she was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and celebrated her 90th Birthday at Bush Stadium in St. Louis with family. She cherished her friends.
She is survived by sons, Gary (Candy) Larson, Dennis (Kathy) Larson, Dean Kuelz, Douglas Kuelz and daughter, Trudy Kuelz; grandchildren, Kristen Circelli, Kaila (David) Ahlemeyer, Cody Kuelz, Zachery Kuelz, Nicholas Cannella, Samantha Ace and Jessica (Lonnie) Schick; great- grandchildren, Marisa and Morgan Circelli, Austin Nystrom, Ada Cannella, and Jacksyn Cannella and Braden Ahlemeyer; nieces and nephews; step-children; cousins; and mothers of her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wesley and Fred Peterson Jr.; infant twin brother of Fred Peterson Jr.; grandson, Jared Larson; nephew, Scott Peterson; sister- in-law-, Patricia Peterson; and Bette Peterson.
A visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with services to follow, Thursday, May 1, at Cherry Valley Methodist Church, 112 Cherry St, Cherry Valley, IL 61016. Rev. Mark Harkness from Cherry Valley United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial at Cherry Valley Cemetery. Memorials in her honor to Cherry Valley Library or Cherry Valley United Methodist Church.
