Donna Jean Pitts, 64, of Belvidere, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, in Northwestern Memorial Medical Center, Chicago, following a lengthy illness. Donna was born February 23, 1944, in Lena, IL, the daughter of Willard "Doc" and Mildred Seaman Cable, and married Jerry D. Pitts in Lena on September 5, 1964. She was a volunteer teacher in reading programs through the Ida Public Library and was very involved in the Belvidere Sister Cities Association. She and Jerry were members of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Self-taught and fluent in French, Donna enjoyed being a world traveler with her family and friends.Survivors include her husband, Jerry; sons Jeffrey D. (Anne Marie) Pitts of Bartlett, IL, and Darren J. Pitts of Elgin; daughter Jennifer D. Pitts of Chicago; a brother, Ronald G. Cable in CA; and three grandchildren. Donna was preceded in death by her parents.
