Donna Jean Keegan, 69, of Belvidere, IL peacefully passed surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023. She was born on March 22nd, 1954 in Belvidere, IL. The daughter of Floyd and Rose Carpenter (Ohlin). She graduated from Belvidere High School class of 1972. Donna married her everything, Gregory Richard Keegan, on August 25, 1973. They enjoyed 54 years together and raised 2 children. They started their lives together in Belvidere where she worked at The Boone County Shopper and O'Brien and Dobbins. When they moved to Barrington, IL in 1984 she worked for Dr. Michael Carter DDS as a Dental Assistant and Office Manager. After moving back to Belvidere, IL in 2005 she continued her career as a Dental Assistant and Office Manager and retired in 2017.

She was a lifelong devoted member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Stephen Minister, Grief Share Counselor, treasurer, and served on the SPRC board. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith and love for her family and as a surrogate mother and grandmother to so many. She was selfless and kind and her home was always open when someone needed a place to stay. Her hobbies included reading, scrapbooking and saleing to add to her many collections. She enjoyed traveling the world to visit her niece. She loved to visit with friends and family or to just sit quietly and watch the birds. She received a lifesaving lung transplant from Loyola Medical Center on December 16th, 2021. After battling a debilitating lung disease, it provided a year and a half of new-found freedom. It allowed her to once again enjoy activities with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Greg; daughter, Kim (Scott) Jerry; son, Scott Keegan; foster son, Tim Sladen; grandchildren, Layla and Miles and sister, Debbie Richardson. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends whom she loved dearly. She is preceded by her parents, Floyd and Rose Carpenter; sister, Shirley Culvey; as well as numerous extended family and friends waiting to welcome her home.

Donna's visitation and funeral will be at The First United Methodist Church, located at 610 Bonus Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. The visitation will be on Monday, June 12th from 4pm – 8pm and Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 13th at 11am. Lunch will be provided at the church following the service. A second visitation will take place Tuesday, June 13 at 10am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gift of Hope (https://www.giftofhope.org/give/) or First United Methodist Church in memory of Donna.
