Donna J. Edson, 85, of Belvidere, formerly of Capron, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Maple Crest Centre. She was born February 20, 1932 in Capron, IL, the daughter of Ole and Bessie (Haug) Nelson. Donna married the love of her life, Alden Edson on June 26, 1954 in Capron, IL. She was a cook at North Boone High School for 24 years. Donna was a devoted member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, and formerly of Capron United Methodist Church, where she taught as a Sunday School Teacher. Donna was a 4-H leader, was involved with the Legion Auxiliary Post 205 and the Poplar Grove homemakers. She enjoyed baking, sewing, cross stitch, word searches, and crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and extended family.

Donna is loved and missed by her children, Steve (Kelly) Edson of Alexandria, VA, Cindy (Ralph) Marsh of Cottonwood, CA, and Debbie (Lou) Larson of Roscoe, IL; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol McKenzie of Roscoe, IL, Karen (Don) Lindberg of Caledonia, IL, and Ron (Debbie) Nelson of Capron, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, 105 E. Grove St, Poplar Grove, IL 61065 with Rev. Christopher Druce Jones officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Burial will be in Long Prairie Cemetery in Capron. Memorials may be made to the Belvidere Keen Age Center.
