Garden Prairie, ILDonald A. Wych, 92, formerly of Garden Prairie and Rockford, IL died Sunday morning, January 27, 2008 in Harris-Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth, TX after a short stay. Donald was born September 14, 1915 in Harvard, IL the son of John and Norine (Mack) Wych. He lived most of his life in Garden Prairie working for P.A.G. of Garden Prairie retiring in 1980 as manager. Donald married Dorothy Hall in Poplar Grove on June 12, 1941; she predeceased him on October 14, 1979. He was married to Ann Demarco from 1981 to 1992. Donald was a member of Garden Prairie United Church of Christ, member of the Boone County Fire Dist. #2 from 1961 to 1988 and a life member of the John Hugo Kaiser Post #1461 V.F.W. Donald served our country in WWII from June 1942 to April 1944 in the European Theater. He received the Silver Star in September 1943 for actions in Italy as a US Army Medic. After returning to the U.S. he served in the Military Police in Chicago until his discharge in Nov. of 1945.Survivors include his children, Dr. Dan (Brenda) Wych of Indianapolis, IN, Donna (Fay) Ellwanger of Garden Prairie; grandchildren, Jodi (William ) Johnson, Donald (Heather) Ellwanger, Adam (Sara) Ellwanger all of Belvidere; great grandchildren, Kaelyn and Madelyn Johnson, Daniel, Brandon, Christopher and Emilie Ellwanger; sister, Marilyn Orr of Cherry Valley; brothers, Richard (Barb) Wych of Garden Prairie, Edward Wych of Machesney Park; several step-children, including, Barb Kinard of Frisco, TX with whom he made his home the past 17 years.Donald is predeceased by his parents, wife, Dorothy; 3 sisters, 5 brothers and a great-grandson.
