Donald E. Weaver, 85, of Poplar Grove, IL died Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a short illness surrounded by his loving family.  Donald was born September 18, 1928 in      Pontiac, MI, the son of Fred and Hester (Dyer) Weaver.  He married Ethelyn M. Hoelzel on November 14, 1953 in Poplar Grove, IL, she preceded him in death on June 27, 2012.  Don graduated from Belvidere High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Donald retired from Woodward Governor in 1988; he also worked for Tripp and Son Plumbing.  Don was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church and the Belvidere Moose Club; he loved to lay on the floor and read magazines, especially Consumer Report.  Don also enjoyed playing cards at the Keenage Center and Shadley Apartments.

Donald is loved and will be missed by his children, Terri (Bob) Alderman of Poplar Grove, IL, Joni Weaver of Belvidere, IL,, Debbi (Steve) Thurston of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Katie (Chad) Osterberg, Kevin (Angie) Alderman, Brad (Pam) Holmes, Bryan Holmes, Jeff Holmes, Jessi Holmes, Ryan Weaver, Brock Weaver, Kailee Thurston, Kyle Thurston; great-grandchildren, Emily and Lauren Osterberg, Chandler and Marlee Alderman, Ethan, Skyler and Cole Holmes, Arianna Weaver and one on the way baby Kaiden Holmes; special niece Cathie (Ray) Johnson of Capron, IL; brother in-law, Rex Rink.  Donald is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethelyn; son, Tom Weaver; infant daughter, Toni Kaye Weaver; brother, Edwin Weaver; sisters Merilyn Young and Carolyn "Sue" Rink.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, 105 East Grove Street, Poplar Grove, IL with Rev. Paul Nolden officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 at the church.  Burial will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery.  A memorial will be established and gifts can be given in care of Don's family.  Arrangements by Anderson Funeral and cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W.
