Donald D. Simmerman, 72, of Belvidere, died peacefully Thursday morning, November 28, 2013 at Maple Crest Care Centre with his wife at his side. Don was born on October 3, 1941 in Dongola, Illinois; the son of Lee and Gladys (Leyerle) Simmerman. He married Ruth Green on June 14, 1992. Don was a Professional driver. He belonged to the Teamsters. He was baptized in the Baptist faith. Don enjoyed playing bingo, playing the lottery, watching tv and westerns, especially "The Duke." Don is survived by his wife, Ruth; 6 children, Donald Simmerman, Jr. Larry Simmerman, Laura Simmerman, Tracy Burgett, James (Dawn) Simmerman and Amanda Alshire; 2 Step-children, Pamela (David) Cupp and Chari Johnson; 13 grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Shirley) Simmerman and Step-brother, Steve Simmerman. Preceded in death by his parents.
