Donald F. Ranken, 75, of Cherry Valley, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in his home. He was born December 20, 1942 in Cherry Valley, the son of WR "Boots" and Doris Ranken. Donald attended Hiawatha High School in Kirkland after which he proudly served his county with the United States Army. Donald married the love of his life Vernetta on December 29, 1962 in Belvidere. Donald was a truck driver by trade and enjoyed collecting antique cars and watching NASCAR. He was a member of the Tebala Shrine, Free Masons, Model T Ford Club of Rockford and the Eagles Club.

Donald is loved and will be missed by his sons, Richard (Beth) Ranken, Rodney (Valerie Laken) Ranken; grandchildren, Allison (Jake) Maliszewski, Anna (James Peterson) Ranken; great- grandchildren, Henry Maliszewski, Harper Peterson; siblings, Judy Campbell, Cay (Keith) Pasch, Ted Ranken, Lori (Tom) Harman as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008, with a visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to service. A visitation will take place 5-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 18,2018 at the funeral home.
