Visitation
Funeral Service
Donald Edgar Hill, 92, passed away peacefully March 4, 2026, in Kokomo, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born June 2, 1933, in rural Blue Grass, Iowa, to Edgar and Louise Hill. He spent his early childhood on a farm before his family moved to the city of Davenport. Soon after his high school graduation, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably in Germany during the Korean War.
Before leaving for service, Don met Eileen, the love of his life. The two maintained a long-distance relationship throughout his time in the Air Force. While stationed overseas, Don proposed to Eileen, shipping her engagement ring from Germany. They were married in Davenport, Iowa, in September 1956, and soon after began their life together in Kingston, New York, where Don started his career with IBM. Over the years, their journey took them to Battle Creek, Michigan; Davenport, Iowa; and northern Illinois. They ultimately settled in Belvidere, Illinois, where they raised their four children and where Don actively served his community through Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Kiwanis Club.
Don began his career as a technician and later transitioned into controls and data systems sales, retiring from Siemens Corporation in 1999. He and Eileen enjoyed many wonderful years in retirement, spending summers at their beloved lake cabin in Wisconsin and winters in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Don especially loved hiking the Arizona desert and sharing local sights with visiting friends and family. When not traveling, they made their home in Poplar Grove, Illinois, until relocating to Kokomo, Indiana, in January 2025 to be closer to family.
A man of deep faith, Don was devoted to his church and to mission work throughout his adult life. Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere held a special place in his heart, and he and Eileen also worshiped faithfully in their Wisconsin and Arizona communities.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Eileen; his children Karen (Laddie) Pooser, Keith Hill, and Catherine Maxwell; his grandchildren Donald Pooser, Marie (Juan) Jimenez, Avery (Alex) Claxton, Kendall Hill (fiance Jesse Dominguez-Castelan), and Bailey, Elli, Audrey, and Connor Maxwell; and his great-grandchildren Jade and Nicole Pooser, and Mateo and Sarah Jimenez. The family also wishes to recognize the care and support provided by Carrie and Eric O'Banion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert; his sister, Dorothy; and his son, Curtis, who passed away in 2025.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Belvidere, Illinois. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
