Donald F. Fidder, age 70 of Belvidere, Illinois has gone home to be with his Lord. Donald passed peacefully Friday evening, May 27, 2005 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with cancer. Don was born July 24, 1934 in Boone County the son of Fred and Elsie (Bye) Fidder. He married C. Clorice Hawn on September 9, 1956 in Belvidere. Don was a life long farmer, a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. He served our country during the Korean War. Don served as president of the Pork Producers and served 12 years on the Spring Township Board. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 0337 and a member of Genoa, IL VFW Post 8397. Donald was also a member of Boone Lake, Loyal Order of Moose #295, International Harvester Collectors Chapter 2 of Northern Illinois, Boone County Historical Society and Northwest Two Cylinder Club. Don graduated from Belvidere High School where he was voted most valuable football player and was elected homecoming king. Don enjoyed attending his coffee club with friends, golf outings, bowling, horseshoes and antique tractors.Survivors include his wife Clorice; children, Tim (Dee) Fidder of Belvidere, Cindee (Mike) Robinson of Belvidere, Ted (Carrie) Fidder of Broomfield, CO, Susanne (Michael) Ruano of Columbia, SC, Sharon (Rodney) Guttmann of Lexington, KY; thirteen grandchildren, Airman 1st Class Joshua Fidder of VA, Rebekah Fidder of Iowa, Bridgette Fidder, Jennee Roach, Jon Roach, Justin Roach, Kevin Robinson, Jacob Robinson all of Belvidere, Brianna Fidder of Colorado, Jacquelyn Guttmann of Kentucky, Ryan Gipp of Belvidere, Samantha Gipp and Savannah Ruano both of South Carolina; brother, Dave (Sandy) Fidder and sister Kay (Ken) McCoy both of Belvidere; special friends Bill Culvey, Dee Templin, Bobby Trapp, Brenda and Marsha and his special dog Tilly.He will be dearly missed by his beloved family and friends.Donald is predeceased by his parents, Fritz and Elsie; sister, Donna Lawhorn and grandson Martin Robinson.
Memorials in Donald's name can be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Northern Illinois Hospice Association or Poplar Grove United Methodist Church in his memory.
