Donald E. Elvin, 75, of Rockford, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 in Nelson-Debes Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on February 15, 1934 in Hinsdale, Illinois, the son of Robert and Ellen (Plumb) Elvin. Donald married M. Pauline Hardesty in Washington Grove, Illinois on October 3, 1953. He was a farmer who later became a mechanic for the Grounds Support Equipment at the Greater Rockford Airport. He is survived by his wife, M. Pauline of Rockford; three sons, Ed (Marion) Elvin, Belvidere; Pete (Kim) Elvin, Rockford; and John Elvin of South Beloit, Illinois; a granddaughter, Carrie; two grandsons, Robert, both of Rockford; David of South Beloit; a step great-granddaughter, Carmen Sadewater; two step-grandsons, Bret (Shelly) Sadewater, both of Belvidere; Justin Gazouski, Rockford; a special niece, Gloria Jean (Dean) Dahlenburg, Loves Park; a sister, Margaret (Odell) Griffey, Hamilton, Washington. Donald was preceded in death by a son, David; three sisters and three brothers.
