Donald G. "Donnie" "Duck" Branson, 60, of Belvidere, died Friday, March 20, 2009 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following a lingering illness. He was born December 22, 1948 in Galesburg, IL; the son of James and Erma (Dama) Branson. "Donnie" worked for Chrysler Corporation as an Assembly line man for 31 years, retiring in 2000. He was stationed in Korea serving in the Army. "Donnie" was a member of the American Legion, Boone Post #77, V.F.W. John Hugo Kaiser Belvidere Post #1461 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Belvidere Aerie #3414. "Donnie" enjoyed life his way and if you needed help, "Donnie" was your man. He is a graduate of Belvidere High School, Class of 1968. He is survived by two children, Krista (Ryan) Bartosz, Holton, IN; Greg (Suzi) Branson, Rockford, IL; three grandchildren, Zack, 10, Zane 7, and Zoe, 4; three sisters, Ethel (Wayne) Abernathy, Belvidere; Dollie Branson, Moultrie, GA and Kay (Larry) Jolliff, Springfield, MO; and brother, Harold (Marge) Branson, Belvidere. He is also survived by many other relatives and special friends. He is preceded in death by his parents two brothers, Wayne and Eddie Branson and two sisters, Carol Evans and Mildred Bakken.
